How to Spruce Up Your Living Space in 24 Hours

One thing that the majority of us could probably do with more of, is time. Unless you have a secret stash of gold bullion hidden somewhere, chances are you’re out there every day working just as hard as the rest of us. Throw a young family into the mix, and between playdates and corporate meetings, you probably barely have time to stop and tie your shoelace. So, if there’s a room in your house in dire need of some TLC, you’ve probably resigned yourself to the idea that this isn’t going to happen anytime soon. Well, we’re pleased to be the ones to tell you that you’re wrong. Because there is a way that you can spruce up your living space, or bedroom, that’s fast, fun and doesn’t cost the earth.

A Little Help from Your Friends

First and foremost, you’re going to need a little help. In fact, the more help you can get, the better. Pick a day when people are likely to be available, (a Sunday is usually best) and employ the help of friends, family, neighbors and anyone else who’s willing to help. The more people you get, the less time the job will take, and the more fun the whole process will be.

Painting in a Hurry

The quickest and easiest way to give your living space a new lease of life is to give it a fresh coat of paint. If the ceiling hasn’t been painted in a while, this can make the whole room look dull and neglected. You may think that this sounds like a time-consuming job, but it doesn’t have to be.

A good tip is to move all the existing furniture to one side of the room while you paint the other side. Then repeat the process when you’re ready to paint the parallel wall. This saves you a lot of time, because you’ve not got to lug heavy furniture in and out of the room.

The Devil’s in the Detail

Now, we move on to the fun bit. When it comes to interior design, it’s the little details that give a room that all-important ‘wow!’ factor. Placing a few scatter cushions around the room will help to add interest. Experiment with different fabrics, and don’t be afraid to clash patterns and colors. Place some canvas prints or artwork on the main wall to make a focal point for the room. Then lastly, finish the look off with a bean bag or two. The great thing about using art, scatter cushions and bean bags as your finishing touches is that they can all be moved around easily. So you can create a different look for your living space each and every day.

A Fragrant Finish

Fresh flowers don’t cost much and yet can have a dramatic effect on the feel or ‘vibe’ of any given room. Get in the habit of picking up a bunch when you do your weekly shop. They add color, fragrance, and will instantly uplift even the most tired-looking of rooms.

Follow our simple tips, and in less than 24 hours, you could be sat relaxing in your newly spruced up living space.
